Knowsley Safari Park Visit 2012 Photos In August 2012 we went to the excellent Knowsley Safari Park near Liverpool. If you have never been then you should. Its only a few mins off the motorway and the safari part is amazing. You drive through and the animals are by the road side and even in the road. It is really good to have lions and rhinos a few feet away from you. The baboon bit is not for everyone and there is a car route to escape it if you don't trust them. We tried to keep moving in the baboon bit as instructed but we had no choice. One walked out in front of us making us stop the car and as soon as the car stopped three jumped on the car. There was no damage although we did notice later that the bonnet was covered in bum marks and there was a lump of pooh on the car roof. It was very funny to drive slowly along with these baboons sitting on the car. They were jumping on to everyones car but didn't do any damage. Although a baby one did bite our windscreen wiper but decided it didn't taste that nice. It was such a thrill to have these animals so close to you. Literally looking through the car window at you. Afterwards you drive up to the elephant enclosure (which you can't drive through) and park up and watch the elephants. You again are very close to them. Once you have finished with that you park in the car park and there is an amazing Sea-lion show where they do tricks. It was an Olympic theme as we went during the Olympics. There also is meerkats and a bug house with lots of reptiles. The Bat house is good to walk through as the bats fly around you but never quite touch you. You do feel them whip by you. Finally there is a platform you can climb up and go eye to eye with the giraffes. There is a fairground bit for the kids too. We had a really great day and will be going back.
